Weekend in London Part 1

Spike - 2008-07-19

Thursday night was J’s birthday, and we decided to spend the weekend in London to celebrate. Being too old and boring to go out clubbing on a Saturday evening, we went to the cinema to see Wall-E. To make it a bit more of an event we took a boat up the Thames to Greenwich, and went to the multiplex cinema in what used to be the Millennium Dome

I took far more photos on Sunday, but I’m a bit to tired to run them through the gimp just now.

Pink

Not my best work, but I’ve had a busy day and I’m tired!  Still, I quite like the exaggerated contrast range.

In photo-a-day news – today is day 200 – which means that I’ve only got 166 days left to go.  In 2 months time, “days remaining” will be down into double figures!

Long Lost Pals

Tash and Owain - 2008-07-15

Just as I was leaving the office, I bumped into these two on the stairs. I’ve not seen Tash and Owain since they moved to Cambridge about 3 years ago, so that Tash could do her astrophysics PHD. (I think I’ve got that right.  I know it involves radioastronomy!)  They were back in Bristol today for Tash’s sisters graduation ceremony.

I first met Tash through juggling about 6 years ago, and she’s sort of responsible for me getting my current job as she worked for ResNet at the time I was applying and gave me loads of useful inside information.  Talking of juggling, come on guys – get yourselves along to Cambridge Community Circus – they’re all lovely people!

Reading Material

I’ve been a right miserable sod all day, down right tetchy.  I’m still somewhat irritable, even after spending all evening with the cat curled up next to me so I’m going to bed.

For want of something more interesting, here’s a page of a book I’m reading at the moment.

“What?  Me?  Digging?  It was like that when I got here!”

North Nibley Wildlife

Horse - 2008-07-12

I went for a walk today, up the hill from North Nibley to the Tyndale Monument. Not a particularly long or difficult walk, but it does give you some good views.

Unfortunately all the shots I took of the monument, the view, and all that pretty landscapey goodness were no good. Largely because I’d left it too late in the day and was only able to shoot towards the sun.  I really need to get up there on a morning at some point – or remember to take my tripod so I can do some kind of HDR thing.

Instead, I give you the above photo of a horse, and two shots of butterflies.
