Finding his photographic feet, one photo at a time
Bunchaphones[1]

This is a variation of a shot I took for a website at work. One of my colleagues has spent the last couple of weeks trawling through these devices, taking screenshots, and generally documenting how to get them all connected and reading email from our servers, but the front page needed a photo.
[1] and PDAs – OK – Mainly PDAs

Lines and Curves

Busy day today, I was working from home all day. I finally stopped at about 8:30pm. Still, at least I made significant progress on the “rip the heart out of our business logic and start again” project, even if it was at the expense of an uninspired picture of a thing.
In “3 Meter Clock” news – I bought a dremmel at lunchtime to cut the circuitboard down to size so it’ll fit in the case. I’d have been better off using a hand saw. Dremmels suck.
In hundred pressup news, today was 12, 12, 10, 10, 15. I think. I may have done 3 sets of 10 as I couldn’t remember if I’d done two or not, so did another set anyway. I think it’s going to hurt tomorrow.

Working From Home

I’ve got rather a lot of work on at the moment, and it’s slow going. The fuckup fairy is visiting production systems which my development environment depends on a little too often for my liking at the moment[1], so I’m having to bring work home with me.
I’m looking at next weeks “Bank Holiday Monday followed by a University closure day” and instead of thinking “Yay! 4 day weekend!” I’m thinking “God that’s tedious, I could really do without a short week this month. I might have to work it anyway.”
Work life balance? What’s that then? “Paid overtime” or “time off in leu”? Not sure I’ve heard of those either.
[1] Last week, the database team scheduled some maintenance to our production database server, in office hours. It over ran by about 14 hours, meaning I lost almost 3/4 of a days development time. Today – a change made to one of our authentication services locked out my dev box (and some live applications) for the whole afternoon – more time lost. Fuckups come in threes, something is going to bite me soon.

Orange

The blue background is a sheet of white A3 paper backlit by a Vivitar 283 at about 2/3 power with CTB filter shooting through a white brolly. The Orange is lit from camera right by a Vivitar 283 at full power with CTO filter, snooted, and softened slightly with a carrier bag.
That’s more for my reference than yours though.
In pushup news – today is Day 1 of Week 1 – and I managed “10, 10, 8, 6, 10″ with carefully timed 60 second gaps. I could probably have pushed that final 10 a bit further, but I’m being slightly cautious. I don’t want to burn out too early in the first week.

What goes up…

T’was the last day of the Crawley convention today. As usual for a weekend away I took far too many photos (came back with about 3GB of files to trawl through)
It’s also my mate Mikey’s wedding day today (Congratulations Mike and Jo!). Unfortunately due to work stuff, I can’t be there – but best of luck for your life together guys! May it carry on just as it has done for the last however many years!

Crawley Carpark Conventions

Two for you from today from the Crawley Circus Convention in a Carpark. The first is the snout of a wooden animal from the totem pole structure at the entrance to the Hawth Theater, Crawley.

The second is Baghead – Which I’m posting partly because clicking the photo will take you to the rest of the photos I took from the (better than usual Crawley standard) Renegade Show – and partly because clicking his name takes you to his video. Which is wonderful.

Mug

It was J’s birthday about a month ago, and this was his birthday present from my parents. I hadn’t seen him in ages so wasn’t able to pass it on until now.

Zoom!

In camera motion blur. Hmm. I think I need a bit more practice at this one.

Monorail

Today I decided that I’m going to have a go at http://hundredpushups.com/
I’ll be posting my progress here along side my photos, just so I can keep track of things. Today was my “Initial Test” day – and I managed 23 pushups from a cold start. Not too bad, and better than I was expecting to be honest. Shame I couldn’t crank out just one more to equal Chris, but then he is a week ahead of me.
If you fancy joining in, and have nowhere else to brag about your progress – feel free to use the comments.

No Mo’ Mo’

It’s all gone. The Mohawk is dead! Long live the boring-same-length-all-over!
In other news, my arms look fat.
