“Time for bed?”
“Yup”
“You taken your photo for today yet?”
“S*%! – No!”
Today is the closest I’ve come all year to blowing it and not taking a photo in time.

Today is the closest I’ve come all year to blowing it and not taking a photo in time.
Today was the first real frost of the year. Hopefully, we’ll have a proper cold winter for a change.
I’ve had a productive evening tonight. So far I’ve managed to:
And with this shot – my hard disk is full. My new disks turned up today, but I forgot to take them home from the office. Doh!
I like the colours, and the shape, but can’t help thinking that I should find something more interesting to take photos of. I’ve only got 65 days left in which to pull my socks up!
It’s not often I get to see this end of the day, but I’m off to see J for the weekend so it’s an early start for me!
Tonight, I fitted up the first version of the meter scales. They’re not bad, but I need to re-do them with slightly bigger numbers and pick a colour for the backlight. I’m also in two minds about the white on black.
I think ideally I’d like some kind of flickery orange “valve” style glow for the backlight – but I’m not sure that’s going to be particularly easy with LEDs. I wonder how many spare output pins I’ve got on the microcontroller to do the flickering. hmm…
It feels like I’ve taken this shot many, many times this year. It’s been a different building each time though so I don’t feel too bad.
Perhaps one day I’ll manage to make it interesting.
This chap is an Eagle Owl – and is nesting just down the road from my office. Today was the first day that I managed to work out which tree he’s living in – but I only had the 50mm prime with me. So the above is really tightly cropped. I’ll be taking the longer lens into work with me tomorrow to see if I can get a better shot.
