Photos of Phones and Phonographs (occasionally)
Phase One
I’ve got a sketchbook which I use to note down ideas for “things to get around to building” and how to go about building them.
Some of the plans are a bit ambitious – for example my plans for building a Leslie Cabinet and a spring reverb (both completely pointless projects as I have no use for such devices – at least – not until I’ve built the theremin)
Some of the plans are a bit less ambitious, but require careful planning. The above photo is a small element from one such project. Now that Phase One is tested and working, I can start looking for materials to build Phase Two – which will no doubt lead to another photo.
Chemistry Stairwell
This is the stairwell for the University Chemistry department. I like the colours.
Kings Weston House
Having only been out of the house occasionally since Thursday, this afternoon, I decided that some fresh air would do me good. (I thought that on Saturday and it almost killed me, today, not so much)
Food of the gods
I’ve had another housebound day of coughing, sneezing, wheezing stuffyness. Bourbon biscuits are a little ray of sunshine in my book.
Oh, and you know how when you’re off work sick you discover how bad daytime TV is? Well, I don’t have a telly, and it doesn’t get any better if you watch it on the bbc iplayer.
Clevedon – again
I struggled up the road to the village today, and feeling rough I stopped in the newsagent to buy a photography mag to cheer me up. I then dropped in to the cafe for a bacon butty, a cup of tea, and a read of my new purchase.
They had an article about long exposures at the seaside, so against my better judgement, I wrapped up warm and headed out to clevedon this evening. It’s not done my cold any good.
Lessons learnt:
1 – Check the sunset times as well as the tide times
2 – Pick a day in the year where the two are a bit nearer to eachother
3 – Don’t stubbornly stick to your 50mm prime, you need to go wide to get more out of the shot
Todays “also ran” – Tides Coming In
Pills
I got out of bed 4 times today (well, yesterday really as I’m writing this post on Saturday) – I didn’t think you’d want to see a photo of what I did 3 out of 4 times, so here’s trip number 4.
Being Ill sucks.
Trolleys
On my way home to bed at lunchtime today (It’s a combination of allergies and man flu that’s killing me at the moment) I stopped off to buy some essentials (like a jar of honey, some lemons, and a stick of ginger)
For those that have been asking, I’m taking a break from the pushups and will be coming back to them sometime in the next couple of weeks.
