I’m nearing the end of the year, but I’m also nearing the end of my piece of “emergency ideas” paper. This is another one crossed off the list.

They seem to be building a new museum down by the waterfront, and the fencing around the building site appears to be some form of designated graffiti area. Most of it is fairly uninspiring “wildstyle” lettering, or cheery, socially acceptable pictures of bridges and pirates etc. So this piece really stood out as different.
Possibly because the artist had left the poster about the new museum in place. A poster which is titled “My Perfect Bristol” – which fits awkwardly alongside the dark, dirty, dystopian image of a cockroach collector.
Perhaps I’m just in an odd mood today.
Still, I prefer this image to the picture of an ice shark I found lurking in the fountains…
Not a particularly glamorous shot today, but I did spend most of the day sat next to a wartertank with Mark, trying to track down a compromised machine which was spewing spoofed DHCP responses onto the residential network at the university I work for.
A task which is exactly as exciting as it sounds.
It’s a bit washed out, but she’s now sulking behind the sofa so any chances of a reshoot are gone for the night.
Earlier in the week, I caved in and bought a photography magazine. Usually I avoid buying mags as it’s hard to find one which talks about photography rather than cameras, and has a decent “article to advert” ratio.
This particular issue was a “low light special!” (which may not seem relevant given that the above was shot at ISO100, F4, 1/3200) but there was a landscape photo in there which worked wonderfully, because it included people in the scene. Without those people it wouldn’t have worked nearly as well.
So when I saw these kids playing under a tree at sunset, I thought I’d have a go.
This is either:
a) A post-ironic statement about the transient nature of iconic American consumer capitalism in a post-sub-prime fiscal climate, or…
b) A macro picture of some crap I found on my desk
Today is the 339th Day, and the 51st birthday of Brazillian racing driver Raul Boesel

Edit: I suppose I should own up to pinching the idea for this shot from Jonathan
I went to the beach this afternoon to catch the sunset. I’m glad I did. It was rather pretty. This is straight out of the camera, all I did was resize it.
This is Hayley, she’s my niece. It was her birthday today so we all piled round for party food! Nyomnyomnyom!
Happy 15th Birthday Hayley! :-)
