Colours of Light
It turns out that rainbows are really hard to take photos of. It doesn’t help much when they appear over such uninteresting scenery.
Penny is sulking at me because she really didn’t enjoy her trip to the vet to get chipped this afternoon. It probably didn’t help that I did the hoovering when we got back. Still, if she’s going to sulk at me anyway I may as well make the most of it.
While she’s downstairs sitting on the windowsill feeling sorry for herself, I’ve been upstairs playing with my flashguns and that pack of gels I posted the other day using it as an exercise in “flagging” so that light only goes where I want it to.
The results are reasonable, but I’ll have to pick some more sympathetic colours before I go trying it out with any people in the shot.
I think it’s awesome! Sure, composition this, focus that, saturation the other, but the image is so evocative. You just know it’s a steam train driven by a wizard and powered by Moon Dust that runs on that line.
