Finding his photographic feet, one photo at a time

Rose

I got home today to find one of my roses has started flowering again, slightly unexpectedly if I’m honest.  I normally only get two or three blooms off this bush a year, and I had six a couple of months ago.  It stopped flowering, and I assumed that was it!

There seem to be four buds, plus this flower.  I’m not sure what I did diferently this year but it seems to have worked.

By the time I got the camera out, the ambient light was all a bit flat, grey and boring.  So I broke out the flash, put it on about quarter power and held it above, to the right, and slightly behind the flower – really brings out the translucency of the petals.

I might have another crack at it tomorrow morning if there’s a bit more ambient light about – and possibly with some dew on the petals.
