Yellow Cave

Yellow Cave

Extreme white balance miscalculation!

I went back to the raw file, in an attempt to correct away from the jpg, but it looked even less natural.  I think I need to go back down there with a grey card and do the job properly. (or gell all the lights!)

But isn’t that the actual colour of the lighting in that kind of environment? certainly screams cave to me.

Screams cave to me too. I wouldn’t have thought there were anything wrong with the lighting had you not questioned it.
I really like the way it draws your eye right down the cave, and the yellow glow gives it a warm homely cave feel, the type you expect a dragon to live in.

I think it is a fantastic photo. It really does capture the way I feel about caves.

I think if the white balance was corrected it would spoil it for me.

It’s just tungsten lighting, it’s not any sort of special “cave lighting” – I just think it’s a shame that you can’t see the real colour of the rock as I quite like the colour and texture of rocks!
