Doh, the milk reference is in the image alt tag, but you mention water in the description, there lies the confusion.

Go prime, it's the best, Saying that I was at 1/16th power, 1/200 and ISO 200 i think with mine and getting sharp photos at f8 i think.

Are you bouncing the light off a panel? is there any room to get the flashhead closer to the panel?

The cloudy texture is from where I was playing with dripping milk into water. If I turn the strobes up, the flash duration will increase yes. But I should be able to turn them up a little bit and get some more light out of them before it becomes a problem.

They're currently set to something like 1/32 of their full power output (if I remember the rough hand-wavy measuring I did when I built the power control!) I can probably get away with 1/16th but probably not a lot more.

I can get a bit more light out of it if I swap to using my f1.8 50mm prime rather than using my telephoto, but I'd have to be spot on with the focus!

That's an interesting, almost cloudy, texture you've got in the spout there. I don't know about your strobes, but I believe mine just stay on for longer if I crank the power up, which led to more blurred photos.
